Each person, with age, increasingly indulges in memories. More than forty years have passed since I enthusiastically played some of the pieces included in this collection, and even wrote my own variations based on the model of Irina Jordan’s Variations. Already at that time, these plays were part of the golden fund of the cello pedagogical repertoire.
Often in these pieces, the piano parts do not satisfy the teachers: their register often coincides with the register of the cello, which makes it hard to listen to. But the main thing is that they usually have few melodic lines of their own, but echoes, imitations and counterpoints play an important role: they develop imaginative thinking and a feeling for the ensemble and help the student, without interrupting the performance, quickly find the desired character, rhythm, dynamics. Therefore, new piano parts turned out to be necessary both from an artistic and methodological point of view.
