Orchestral suites No 1 and No 2 from the music for G. Ibsen's drama "Peer Gynt" were created by E. Grieg in 1888 and 1891. For them, the composer selected eight out of 23 musical numbers that had a complete character. Both suites soon gained wide popularity on the concert stage, which continues to this day.
