"Symphonic Dances" (1940) is Rachmaninov's last major work, which in some sense has a final character. It embodies one of the key themes of the composer’s work—the theme of the homeland. In addition to the score, Rachmaninov created an arrangement of "Symphonic Dances" for two pianos, which is published in this volume. The musical text has been verified against the lifetime edition of the work (1942) and provided with commentaries.
