For the first time, a scientifically verified publication of the composer's works is being carried out in 12 volumes, based on all available sources, surviving handwritten materials, documents and publications from different years. Each volume is provided with detailed comments, beat-by-beat textual notes (Russian-English), and a list of sources of publications (scientific editor - Rubtsova V.V.). The new edition allows us to restore the creative process of Scriabin’s work on a particular composition and is of great value for performers and music researchers.
The eighth volume includes impromptu works, preludes, poems, and plays created in 1894-1903. and published in opuses 12-18, 21, 22, 25, 27, 28, 31-36.
Scriabin's lifetime publications have been verified with all surviving author's materials. The commentary materials help to peek into the composer’s most interesting creative laboratory. To clarify the text of the works, manuscripts, publications from different years, and unique transcripts of Scriabin’s performance recordings on a mechanical piano, undertaken by Lobanov P.V., a researcher of the composer’s work, are used.
