Otto Link
The first Otto Link mouthpiece was fashioned in the 1930s. It was called the Master Link, and became a staple of professional jazz musicians across America. The mouthpiece evolved, and soon John Coltrane, Ben Webster, Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins and many others became associated with the Otto Link. With the introduction of their hard rubber mouthpieces, the stable of Otto Link enthusiasts grew deeper and wider, including such reed greats as Woody Herman and Georgie Auld. Experimentation in facings, ligature seating strategies, differing bite plate attributes and other innovations consistently made Otto Link the dominant mouthpiece of its time. Today Otto Link reissues the vintage mouthpieces that made them famous, while continuing to innovate and reflect the changing palate of musicians everywhere.
