Selecting 15 ballads, the compilers relied on a "frequency dictionary" from the discography of the most famous instrumentalists and vocalists - Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Oscar Peterson, Miles Davis, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and others.
