In 1928, Brecht and Weill created their masterpiece, “The Threepenny Opera,” the story of the marriage of the bandit Mackey the Knife to the beautiful Polly, the daughter of the creator of an underground syndicate of London beggars. The play was presented in the guise of a "beggar's opera", an old English folk theater parody of aristocratic Baroque opera. Music is present as insert numbers, which have the simplicity, infectiousness and vitality of pop hits.
The collection contains zongs for “The Threepenny Opera” in a free translation by Yuli Kim.
The publication is addressed to a wide range of music lovers.
