The Handpan is a harmoniously tuned steel idiophone with a pleasant organic sound. The instrument consists of two interconnected steel hemispheres, the upper one is called Ding and the lower one is Gu.
On the Ding part there are "fields" on which you can play with your fingers; Gu contains a bass hole that you can use to alter the sound as you play, or can also be used as a bass instrument by tapping sounds with your palms.
This instrument allows anyone who picks it up to create unique combinations of sounds.
You can improvise without fear of making a mistake - the instrument is tuned to one of the special sets of notes and there is no false of their combinations, but there is lyric, cheerfulness, relaxation, an early morning mood.
