Gusli Oberezhnye (protection). Among the northern peoples, a Harp like this, (only bigger) was hung on the door, when someone opens the door balls hit the strings and gives a melodic, pleasant chord.
The sound not loud and unobtrusive, and it is always a little bit different. People were believed that the doorbell gusli drove away evil spirits, uninvited guests. And in fact, they served as an excellent amulet for all family members!
