The simple compositions of this issue are aimed at acquiring and mastering basic, basic conducting and performing skills by students.

This anthology is compiled in accordance with the curriculum of the conductor-choir departments of secondary musical educational institutions. Its task is to assist teachers in choosing the repertoire necessary for working with students. The success of training and education of future music teachers and leaders of choirs largely depends on the correct selection of works.
The Reader includes compositions of different genres: folk songs, works by contemporary composers, Russian and foreign classics. Most of them the student can use in their future practical work. A significant place is occupied by choirs without accompaniment; great attention is paid to their development in the curricula.
The Reader consists of four issues, intended sequentially for the I, II, III and IV courses of music schools. At the beginning of each issue, the general methodological objectives of this course are indicated.
The first issue included choirs written in triple-, quadruple- and duple times. The nature of the sound leading is non legato or legato, the tempo is moderate or moderately fast, the dynamics are mf, f and p, the entry is on different beats of the measure. There are also works on the delimitation of the functions of the hands and the display of simple fermatas.
