Developed by the famous Japanese company, this driver includes two differently directed membranes placed in a common housing. One of the advantages of this arrangement is the possibility of damping of vibrations of two membranes and, consequently, reduction of distortion. The 8mm membrane is responsible for medium and high frequencies, and is directed into the ear canal. 10mm membrane plays in the back chamber, where the waves are reflected from the walls of the housing and only then reach the ears.
This scheme can often be observed in home subwoofers for multi-channel systems. This scheme in headphones requires a more accurate calculation compared to the usual, otherwise the sound can become sluggish and cloudy. But with careful calculation, the result is able to surprise.
