Ludwig van Beethoven (1770–1827) - great German composer, pianist, conductor. The last Viennese classic, author of world-famous symphonies, the opera Fidelio, quartets, thirty-two piano sonatas and many other works in almost all musical genres. Beethoven wrote five concertos for piano and orchestra.
Concerto No. 2 in B flat major for piano and orchestra, op.19, composed in the 1780s–1790s, final edition in 1798, published in 1801. The concert dates back to the first period of the composer's stay in Vienna, when the first two symphonies, twenty piano sonatas and three piano concertos, eight violin sonatas, and a number of quartets were written.
The concerto is published in the edition of the outstanding pianist, composer and piano teacher Eugene D'Albert (1864–1932), a student of Franz Liszt, who at various times served as the court pianist of the Grand Duke of Weimar and taught at the Berlin Higher School of Music.
