979-0-66000-563-7 Kohler L. Selected etudes. Notebook 1. (From the pedagogical heritage of M. Balakirev). Compiled by T. Zaitseva, Compozitor Publishing House Saint-Petersburg
Collection "30 clavier etudes in all keys", op. 130 L. Kohler has long become a bibliographic rarity. Meanwhile, in the second half of the 19th century it was very popular. Thus, studying 28 out of 30 etudes in a certain sequence was mandatory in the piano class of the outstanding composer, pianist and teacher M. A. Balakirev. The etudes selected by Balakirev made up three issues of this publication. Numerous performance notations accompanying each etude belong to the prominent German musician A. Henselt, who played an important role in Russian education. His edition of opus 130 is preserved in Balakirev’s library.
Kohler's etudes, distinguished by a variety of textured models, covering almost all types of piano technique, prepare the student for the performance of romantic music.
