979-0-66000-880-5 Music of the 20th century, arranged for two pianos. Volume 1. A study guide for use in the piano class at different stages. Comp. Stuchinskaya I., Compozitor Publishing House Saint-Petersburg
Symphonic music of the 20th century is rich and varied. The idea of enriching the four-hand piano repertoire with transcriptions of symphonic scores is not new (remember the famous transcriptions of Stravinsky’s "The Rite of Spring" and suites from Prokofiev’s ballets), but it is still capable of bearing fruit that is interesting both for the listener and for the performers themselves.
In this notebook, pianists can find compositions that are not only highly popular (Sviridov’s Romance for the film "Blizzard"), but also relatively rarely performed (fragments from the cycle "Songs and Dances of Old France"). It contains both relatively easy-to-perform plays ("Monument to Lidice" by B. Martin) and extensive scenes from the ballet "Anna Karenina" by R. Shchedrin. Thus, the pieces in this collection can be used in piano classes at different levels and stages of training, and can also be performed by amateur musicians and concert professionals.
