Symphonic music of the 20th century is rich and varied. The idea of enriching the four-hand piano repertoire with transcriptions of symphonic scores is not new (remember the famous transcriptions of Stravinsky’s "The Rite of Spring" and suites from Prokofiev’s ballets), but it is still capable of bearing fruit that is interesting both for the listener and for the performers themselves.
In this notebook, pianists can find compositions that are not only highly popular (Shostakovich’s Romance for the film "The Gadfly"), but also relatively rarely performed (a fragment of Kabalevsky’s Requiem). Here are relatively easy-to-perform pieces from Kara Karaev's symphonic engravings "Don Quixote" - and a large, extended piece, which is an arrangement of a fragment of Tishchenko's ballet "Yaroslavna". Thus, the pieces in this collection can be used in piano classes at different levels and stages of training, and can also be performed by amateur musicians and concert professionals.
