Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) - the great German composer, pianist, conductor. Last of Viennese classics, the author of the world-famous symphonies, concertos, the opera "Fidelio", quartets, and many other works in almost all musical genres.
Beethoven created 32 piano sonatas. Researcher of the composer Arnold Alshvang wrote: "According to their relative weight in the artistic heritage, Beethoven's piano sonatas occupy the same place as the "The Well-Tempered Clavier" in the legacy of J.S Bach. Particularly important are the sonatas created in the first period. Seventeen large piano sonatas, Beethoven completed in 1795-1802 years, almost every encompasses individual, unique features."
Early (up to about 1805, "Appassionata", inclusive) Beethoven sonatas were a kind of "ground" on which he tested new compositional and thematic ideas. If we compare the sonatas with large ensemble and symphonic compositions, the appearance of innovative solutions in the sonatas "is proceeding ahead."
Beethoven sonatas now included in the concert repertoire of pianists around the world. They sound in the classrooms, from music schools to conservatories. Sonatas are different in technical complexity, some of them can be played in middle classes of music school, while others require a professional piano technique.
