Description:

NAI-5 Optima Air Guitar Preamp, Nux Cherub

NUX Optima Air is an acoustic guitar simulator with a preamp for acoustic and electric guitars. It simulates acoustic guitar profiles with the best optimized sound depending on your guitar and the type of pickup. IR loader is combined with a preamp, which is equipped with a 3-band equalizer and amplification control. And there is an additional reverb effect with one regulator. If you want to connect any effects pedal, you can use the SEND/RETURN effects loop and add Optima Air to the signal chain. NUX Optima Air has a unique profile capture feature, you can create your own acoustic guitar pulse response (IR file) by capturing the sound of your favorite instrument.
There is an XLR DI output for direct line/mixer connection, a headphone output for silent playback and an auxiliary input for connecting a music player.

Optima Air has 15 pulse response files uploaded. Each file is optimized for guitar type and pickup type. IR file names include guitar profile, optimized guitar type, and pickup type. Press the IR footswitch to activate/deactivate the IR function.

The NUX Optima Air is equipped with a preamp that allows you to improve the sound with a 3-band equalizer.

You can download third-party IR files and edit the names of presets using the software.
Optima Air also supports USB audio stream, which means you can use Optima Air as a recording interface.

Guitar Profile Capture.
Start the pedal in capture mode; press and hold the IR footswitch, connect the power cable.
It is necessary to use a condenser microphone to get the best result. Connect the acoustic guitar to the Optima Air input, position the microphone and connect it to the microphone preamp. And connect the microphone preamp output to the Optima Air Return.
You can see the input signal level and the return level on the pedal screen, make sure that the levels do not reach the maximum (peak) value or are not too low (usually 60-80% is the best level to capture).
Press the IR switch when you are ready. After counting from 3 to 1, you will be able to start playing the guitar to send the audio signal to Optima Air for capture and processing. Just play as cleanly as possible and use the finger positions or chords you play most of the time. The capture will take 10 seconds, the red AMP LED will start flashing when the recording is completed. You can press the AMP footswitch to save or press the IR button for a new recording.
